The following is a song I wrote a long time ago. It tells the story of a homeless man, Charlie Benson, who becomes a rock star. I wrote the song right before my Army service term was up back in 2001, right before sinking into a deep four-year depression only to rise again and conquer.

Looking back, I think the song is very much strangely prophetic and symbolic of the years which came after I wrote it.

It is dedicated to anyone who is enduring hardship or emotional distress. Please hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Better days are yet to come...

Who was sitting in the dumpster near the city square.

Charlie Benson was not what we call a 'man of means'
A man of very few possessions.

Aggravation, desperation are what led him to aspire
"I've got to change my situation!"
